Education

In 1991, Joanne discovered the joy of teaching when The Cleveland Play House gave her the opportunity to develop her own curriculum for instructing young people in how to write a play. Over subsequent years, she has refined her core curriculum to encompass the wider arena of Performance Writing, teaching the fundamentals that differentiate writing for performance from forms of writing that are primarily intended to be silently read.

Through teaching activities at a variety of theatrical, community-based, and home school venues as well as private, one-on-one tutoring, she continues to develop formal instruction and informal coaching materials encompassing a wide array of writing-related competencies, including but not limited to:

  • Performance Writing
  • Business Communications
  • Essays
  • Technical White Papers
  • Marketing Communications
  • Nomenclature: Creating a Meaningful Product or Company Name
  • Writing Fundamentals for Engineers
